![]() I am so disappointed that Shaw has chosen to hide behind absurd warranty claims instead of taking care of a long-time repeat customer. Additionally, the response received regarding why we are experiencing the abnormal wear on the carpet is insulting. I have never written a review of any product previously but am so disappointed in how this product has performed under clearly normal daily activities that I feel the need to inform other consumers before they make the same mistake we have made. Additionally the "bearding" we are seeing below the chair in front of of our computer station is a result of site agitation. Information we provided to the inspector included how often we vacuumed the carpets (weekly), do we have pets (no), do we wear shoes in the house (no), have we had the carpet shampooed (yes, once) and how many people do we have in our home (4).Īfter waiting for about two months we finally received a response from Shaw stating that the "traffic patterns" we were seeing are due to matting and crushing of the fibers caused by an improper vacuum schedule and not being cleaned. Not knowing if what we were seeing was "normal" for this product we followed their advice and started the process of submitting a warranty claim. They were very surprised at the level of wear that was already showing and suggested we submit a warranty claim, which we did. We contacted the vendor who we purchased the product from to have them provide an opinion on if it was performing at what they felt was an acceptable level for a carpet only a year old. We have had the carpet installed for a little over a year and cannot believe how worn it already looks. We purchased Shaw Smart Thinking carpet for all of our bedrooms, both offices and stairs. Upon moving to our new home we wanted to replace all of the carpet and wood flooring, and again looked to Shaw products expecting similar satisfaction. We have been big fans of Shaw Flooring for many years as we had their hardwood products in our last home for over 15 years. ![]() " Shaw Smart Thinking Carpet, Not A Smart Buy" It would look very good in a small room that never has traffic, other than that. He should have advised us against putting this in rooms that would have traffic. Part of the problem is probably the installer. The warranty? Well, from reading the other reviews regarding Shaw's warranty service, it seems like a non-starter. Overall, we are very disappointed in this carpet. We will live with it for a while longer before we replace it, it was NOT cheap. This is NOT a carpet you would want in your living room, bedroom or any other traffic area. We have had it shampooed several times in an effort to keep it from looking stained. It continues to unravel along the wall edges and room transitions. That should have been an indicator to us of just how fragile the "Caress" style is. We were advised to not use a vacuum with a beater bar, supposedly that will damage the carpet. Be aware that if your room is wider than 12 feet, the seams will show as the edges begin to unravel. It is not stain resistant, and does not clean well. My sister, who has done extensive home decorating stated that "It was the most beautiful carpet she had ever seen." However, after 2 to 3 years it shows a lot of matting in traffic areas. We had this carpet installed several years ago, when it was first put in it looked great. I would Never purchase anything with the Shaw name attached to it. I'll try a different company and next time I'll look at the reviews first which I didn't think you would have to do with carpet but trust me-You Do. After riding Shaw to get this matter fixed, they offered to replace one room of carpeting however, that did not include installation. Also, where my husband's feet were planted to get up and down from his chair was wearing thin after 6 months. They tried to tell me the dog ruined the carpet with her nails in this one particular spot. The carpet was installed in 4 rooms and it's me, my husband and a dog. Customer Service is horrible-especially Sue Dixon who clearly was not interested in helping us at all. Now I wish I would have kept the old stuff. However, we were replacing our 20 year old carpet. ![]() yd which sounded to me like a lot of money. It has been same response from sales person. He then passed on to his manager since was very evident. ![]() After one day the sales person said "nothing was wrong enjoy your carpet". My husband said he saw a couple cuts from layers that weren’t at piecing but thought was nothing. Inspector said looked like several issues, not snug, frayed areas and most likely faulty carpet. Up popped 8 frayed areas and one large loop that was pushed down sort of twirled. Then my vacuum like sales man said to use without and bristles was used. Bit of fuzz in certain areas but thought my dyson would work great. Installer took all day to install and area is very small.
